Get A Clue On Things To Do

Let me tell you why.

Hey how you doin',

The name’s Pauly. My friends call me Uncle Pauly. Others call me Mr. Pauly. But for the time being you can call me Uncle Pauly. Why Uncle Pauly? Let's just say I'm the guy to come to when you need a little help. When I was asked if I could do a little something on this website, I figured why the heck not. When it comes to Vacation rental homes, that's the only way I vacation. With that being said, I figured my first article would be to tell you guys why I prefer vacation rentals.

First off, like the name of this here site "Why rent a room?” I know a lot of you like the idea of renting a hotel room. A place where the room is nice and clean and there's room service and a pool, etc. But have you ever stopped to think exactly what you’re getting for your moola (that means money for you that don't know)?

I mean, think about it. You’re in a room. You just spent hard earned money on a room. You might as well sleep in the car. Yeah, I know some hotel rooms are huge, but unless you’re staying in the freakin' presidential suite, you ain't getting much more than a bed, a TV, a bathroom and maybe if you’re lucky a nice view. In a vacation rental home, you’re getting the whole enchilada.

This brings me to my next point. I mean, don't get me started on that rip off they call a mini bar, $8 bucks for a can of beer? Come on! Most of the homes I've rented had fully equipped kitchens. A quick stop at the local store and I had anything and everything I could want right in my own kitchen. Yeah, I know when you’re on vacation the last thing you want to think about is cooking but having to eat out every meal or order room service can become costly. Heck, unless you’re Oprah or Bill Freakin' Gates, your money has to last. I still eat out while on vacation but when you can roll out of bed, go into the kitchen and scramble up some eggs and bacon while still in your PJs, that can't be beat. Some nights after a long day of "site seeing", I would unwind with a tall glass of Jack and Coke and throw a couple of steaks on the grill. Now that's being on vacation.

Heck, now that I think about it, the last time I stayed in a hotel, I was up half the night because of all the noise in the hallway. Some people just can't find their freakin' indoor voice. When I stay in a vacation home, I don't have to worry about that, unless I'm the one makin' the noise (if you catch my drift). Most vacation rental homes are usually in nice, quite areas but if you’re looking to be closer to the action or night life, there are plenty of homes to accommodate you.

Now let's talk about your surroundings. When you’re staying in a hotel, the pool is everybody's pool. The game room is everybody's game room. The hot tub is everybody's hot tub. And so on and so on. When I rent a vacation home, the pool is my pool. The game room is my game room. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like to share but when I'm on vacation I like to relax. I don't want to have to make freakin' small talk to Hank and Irene from who-gives-a-rats-ass Po-dunkyville. Sitting by the pool in my Speedos with a Jack and Coke is all I ask for. And the Jack and Coke didn't cost me $12 bucks. Heck, some vacation homes have work out equipment. However, being on vacation and working out just don't mix well with me. When I'm on vacation, I'm getting fat!

A lot of my friends and family have come to me and asked if renting a vacation home is safe. Their worried that the advertised home is not legit or their stuff will be stolen while their away from the home. My best advice is always use a reputable site (like Whyrentaroom.com) when searching for a home and ask questions. Legit vacation home owners will not have a problem answering your questions because they want your business. But always go with your gut. If something doesn't add up, walk away. We'd like to live in a perfect world but that ain't the case. But I can tell you that the odds of not getting a legit home are pretty small. As far as your stuff getting stolen while away, well again play it safe. Make sure you lock up your valuables just like you would in a hotel.

The bottom line is, get more for your buck and enjoy the real comforts of home while on vacation. Heck, some vacation homes are so beautiful, you might not want to go back to your own home.

Keep an eye out for future articles. I'll give the low down on things to do in different vacation areas and if you have any question email me at askunclepauly@sbcglobal.net
